North Vättern has an archipelago with its own nature reserve. Here at the northern tip of the lake is Olshammar and a little further up is Askersund with a fine harbor for leisure boats. In the west are the large lakes Undern and Skagern. On the southern part of the map sheet is Karlsborg's mighty fortress on the shores of Lake Vättern. In the 19th century, the fortress was intended to house both the king and the Riksdag in case of war. Cycle map Vättern round (northern part) gives a detailed picture of the cycle paths in the area.

On the northern part of the map sheet there are Gullspång in the west, Töreboda, Laxå, Askersund and Åsbro in the east. The part of this cycle map that shows the southern part of the area has towns like Mariestad up in the northeast, Skövde in the southeast, Töreboda, Tibro and Karlsborg. In the west are Motala and Vadstena. The cycle map also shows the draw for the cycle races Vätternrundan/Tjejvättern and Vänern Runt.
