On Öland there is Stora alvaret, widespread moorland with its very own flora. History is present everywhere, not least through all the ancient cities. The island was open to attack and the inhabitants needed to protect themselves. In the middle of the island is perhaps the most impressive place called Ismanstorp. In Borgholm you can look at the castle ruins and visit Solliden's castle a few kilometers away. Cycle map Öland gives a detailed picture of the cycle paths on Öland.
The cycling map covers all of Öland and stretches from the northern tip with the lighthouse Långe Erik in the north down to Långe Jan in the south. Opposite Färjestaden on the other side of the strait lies Kalmar and its surroundings.
