As in the rest of Småland, there is a lot of forest and lakes in the area, but here there is also the sea and the Kalmar Sound. Off the coast is the island of Blue Virgin and even further away is Öland. In Nybro, the Småland specialty is glass-making, and in Oskarshamn you can stroll in the cozy wooden block above the harbor. Cycle map Södra Smålandkusten gives a detailed picture of the cycle routes in the area.
On this cycle map, Målilla is in the northwest and Oskarshamn on the coast in the east. Further south are Mönsterås, Blomstermåla and at the bottom of the map is Nybro. The northern part of Öland with Borgholm, and parts of the Ölandsleden, are also included.
