In Sweden there are forest reindeer and mountain reindeer. The forest reindeer live in the forest all year round and the mountain reindeer in the mountain regions during the bare ground period and in the coniferous forest during the winter. In Scandinavia, the reindeer are partly domesticated (semi-domesticated), they are used in both mountain and forest reindeer husbandry. The reindeer is a distinct survivor in arctic climates.
Reindeer is a central point in Sami society.
A mountain reindeer can weigh up to 150kg and a forest reindeer up to 180kg
